Budget Committee Members Needed
Mid Rogue Fire District is seeking five (5) community members who reside within the district boundaries to serve on its Budget Committee.
The Budget Committee plays an important role in reviewing and recommending the District’s annual budget and ensuring transparency and accountability in the use of public funds. Members will meet several times during the budget preparation process, typically in the spring. The term is 3 years pursuant to ORS 294.414(5).
Eligibility:
Applicants must be residents and registered voters within the Mid Rogue Fire District boundaries, as outlined in Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS) 294.414.
Under ORS 294.414, the Budget Committee is composed of the governing body and an equal number of appointed citizens. Citizen members serve three-year terms and have equal authority with board members in reviewing and approving the proposed budget before it is presented for public hearing and adoption.
Committee Responsibilities (per ORS 294.401–294.414):
– Review the proposed annual budget prepared by the District’s Budget Officer.
– Recommend revisions or adjustments as needed.
– Approve the proposed budget for presentation at a public hearing.
– Participate in at least one public meeting and the annual budget hearing.
– Ensure compliance with Oregon’s Local Budget Law and promote fiscal transparency.
