Mid Rogue Fire District Extends Tentative Offer for Executive Director Position.

The Mid Rogue Fire District has made a tentative job offer to Phil Turnbull for the position of Executive Director, following a competitive selection process that began with 15 applicants.

According to the district, all 15 applications were initially reviewed for completeness and to ensure applicants met the minimum qualifications for the position. From that pool, five applicants were selected to move forward to the first round of interviews.

During the process, one applicant notified the district that they were withdrawing from further consideration. Another applicant failed to respond despite several attempts to make contact. That left three candidates to participate in interviews.

Following the interview process, district officials determined that one candidate stood out above the other two finalists. Phil Turnbull was subsequently given a tentative job offer, pending the completion of additional background checks.

The district has not yet announced a final hiring date, as the offer remains contingent on the successful completion of those checks.

The deadline to apply for the Executive Director position ended at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27th, 2026. We wish to thank all those who applied and give you an update to the process timeline. Below is the new Schedule as of 3/1/2026

Hiring Process Timeline:
Accepting Applications – Feb. 5th to 27th
Application Review and Candidate Selection – March 2nd to 5th
Candidate Interviews – March 21st
Finalist’s Presentation – March 30th
Tentative Job Offer – March 31st
Background & Reference Checks – April 1st to 10th
Medical and Drug Screening – April 11th to April 15th
Formal Job Offer – April 16th
Start Date – May 1st, 2026
